Heather Özaltun. piano
Heather Ozaltun is an American-born Turkish citizen. She began studying music at the age of 7. In 1986 she was awarded first prize at the Young Artists Concerto Competition and appeared as soloist with the Omaha Symphony Orchestra. She went on to study piano as a National Merit Scholar with Louis Nagel at the University of Michigan and Beth Miller Harrod at the Rocky Ridge Music Center in Estes Park, Colorado. She later studied with Johanna Jensen at the Mozarteum University of Salzburg and with Zoe Erisman at the University of Colorado at Denver.
In 1995, Ms. Ozaltun relocated to İzmir Turkey with her husband and two children. She has performed many solo and chamber music recitals in the U.S., Austria, Singapore and Turkey. Her chamber music repertoire includes over fifty violin sonatas. As a faculty member of the piano department at the Dokuz Eylül University State Conservatory in İzmir, Turkey, she has accompanied the class of Jerrold Rubenstein since 2005.
