Creative Music Making
Exploring the role of musicians in society, this workshop will focus on expanding skills for professional classical musicians by searching for ways to reach outside the concert hall and into the community. Using improvisational techniques as well as workshop building skills, this workshop provides training for performers and music teachers that want to connect to, make music with and communicate in intuitive and creative ways with new audiences young and old. This will be organized both with various school age children and general audiences throughout the Cappadocia region in partnership with the Avanos, Goreme and Nevsehir Municipalities. Cyrille van Poucke, the principal trumpet player of the Dutch Radio Orchestra trained with veteran music educator Matthew Barley and has 10 years experience with the educational arm of the Dutch Radio Orchestra working with youth groups all around Holland. Tolga Zafer Özdemir, professor of composition at Bilgi University is currently designing a unique IPad application with interactive and fun methods for composing and creating new music for musicians as well as for non-musicians.
