Jazz Week
Dates: Aug. 17-21, 2015
The goal of this 5 day intensive Jazz workshop led by NY-based guitarist Dave Allen is to provide students and professionals with a complete experience of how to progress as a jazz musician. The focus will be on performance and improvisation. All students will play with an ensemble. They will also have opportunities to play with the faculty. Each day will feature private lessons, master classes, listening sessions, ensembles and performances. Students will also be encouraged to begin composing their own music. In 5 days the students will be given enough information and experience to continue practicing and developing for a long time afterwards. Rhythmic approach, time feel and swinging with a rhythm section will be a priority. The workshop will be designed for intermediate to very advanced students and professionals on all instruments including vocalists.. However, all levels are welcome to apply, including beginners. There is limited space available and preference will be given to instrumentalists needed to complete the ensemble instrumentation.
